Last updated: April 30, 2026

All four Q2 variants compared head-to-head.

QUICK ANSWER

The best RPM Q2 paddle for most players is the Q2 Widebody 16mm. It has the best mix of power, spin, forgiveness, hand speed, and stability. Choose the Widebody 14mm if you want faster hands and more pop, the Elongated 16mm if you want reach and serve power, and the Elongated 14mm if you want the most aggressive thin elongated option.

Why the Q2 line matters

The Q2 is RPM's full-foam performance line, built around strategic foam tuning for torsional stability, broader forgiveness, and a firm connected feel. RPM positions the line as designed for elite power, stability on off-center contact, and predictable performance from baseline drives to fast kitchen exchanges.

What makes the Q2 cluster interesting is that the four variants are not just "control" and "power" versions of the same paddle. The widebodies are not slow control versions, and the elongated models do not automatically win on power. The right Q2 for you depends on how you weigh hand speed vs reach vs forgiveness.

Widebody vs Elongated

The two widebody Q2s carry significantly higher twist weights (6.8 and 6.9) than the two elongated Q2s (6.0 and 6.1), and both widebodies have lower swing weights too. That combination — more stability on off-center contact AND faster hand speed — is the reason most doubles players should default to a widebody Q2.

The elongated variants give you reach, more leverage on serves, and stronger plow-through on drives. Serve speed data is highest in the Elongated 16mm. If you mostly drive from the baseline or play singles, the elongated body pays you back. If you spend a lot of time at the kitchen, the widebody pays you back more often.

14mm vs 16mm

The 14mm versions are the livelier siblings. Lower swing weights, more pop, and slightly faster hand speed. The 16mm versions have the better forgiveness story — a touch more dwell, slightly higher twist weights, and a more planted feel under hard contact.

Within the widebody pair, the 16mm wins on stability and the 14mm wins on hand speed. Within the elongated pair, the 16mm is the more playable everyday paddle and the 14mm is the most aggressive option in the whole Q2 line.

Best Q2 for most players

Q2 Widebody 16mm. It is the version with the best mix of power, spin, forgiveness, and hand speed. The 6.9 twist weight is the highest in the line and the 107 swing weight is fast enough to play in any doubles format. If you don't know which Q2 to start with, start here.

Best Q2 for hand speed and pop

Q2 Widebody 14mm. With a 104 swing weight, it is the fastest paddle in the Q2 group, and the thinner core gives you the most pop. You give up a small amount of forgiveness vs the 16mm Widebody, but if you live at the kitchen and win points with fast hands, this is the version to grab.

Best Q2 for control and forgiveness

Q2 Widebody 16mm again. Within the Q2 line, the 16mm Widebody has the best forgiveness score and the best control score. The elongated versions can't match its 6.9 twist weight or its 9.1 forgiveness rating.

Best Q2 for reach and serves

Q2 Elongated 16mm. The 16.5" length gives you the most leverage on serves and overheads, and the data backs it up — the Elongated 16mm posted the highest serve speed in the Q2 group at 61.6 MPH. The trade-off is the lower 6.1 twist weight and the higher swing weight.

Best Q2 for aggressive elongated players

Q2 Elongated 14mm. It's the most polarizing of the four — fast and aggressive with the lowest forgiveness in the line. If your hands are clean and you specifically want a thin elongated power paddle, this is the version. Most other players will be happier with a widebody Q2 or the Elongated 16mm.

Final verdict

Most players should start with the Q2 Widebody 16mm. It is the best balance of RPM's power, spin, and stability, and it is the version we'd hand to a doubles player who isn't sure what they want. If you want faster hands, go Q2 Widebody 14mm. If you want reach, go Q2 Elongated 16mm. If you want a more aggressive elongated option, the Friction Pro Elongated V2 16mm is the alternative in RPM's lineup outside the Q2 cluster.
