The CRBN TruFoam Barrage is a premium 100% foam-core pickleball paddle with elite spin and a layered TruFoam Void Core. Despite the hype and pro endorsement, the tight sweet spot and stiff response make it a demanding paddle that doesn't justify its $280 price for most players.
The Verdict
Pro-endorsed spin in a demanding frame.
It took me a few sessions to figure out who this paddle is actually for. After thorough on-court evaluation, the CRBN TruFoam Barrage landed in the upper tier of the paddles we tested in 2026.
If you're comparing it against other foam-core paddles, it's one of several great foam core paddles we've played this year.

Performance Scores
On-Court Feel
Center contact produces great spin on drives and fast in-hand response. Miss center and the paddle stops feeling premium. Blocking heavy drives doesn't feel as solid as you'd expect from a $280 paddle. The soft game has decent dwell from the foam core, but the sweet spot is genuinely smaller than other Gen 4 paddles in this price range. It plays well when you play well, and gets exposed when you don't.
Performance & Testing
The CRBN TruFoam Barrage went through our standard on-court protocol - drills, rec play, and at least one tournament match. Scores reflect consensus feedback, not a single reviewer's opinion.
Grit & Durability
The carbon face provides good grip and maintains decent spin numbers throughout testing. The TruFoam construction feels dense but the edge guard takes scuffs faster than typical models. The 1-year warranty is standard for this price tier but shorter than the Selkirk Boomstik's lifetime coverage.
Who It's For
Advanced players who consistently strike the center and want elite spin in a fast hybrid frame. Skip if you want a forgiving paddle, need help with resets, or want better value for your $280.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Elite spin generation
- Fast in hand for a hybrid
- Endorsed by a top-5 PPA pro
- Strong build quality and design
Cons
- Tight sweet spot for the price
- $280 is steep when the J2CR exists at $175
- No promo code currently available
- Punishes off-center contact
Bottom Line
Elite spin and pro endorsement aren't enough at this price.
Better-value alternatives like the Honolulu J2CR exist at $175 with comparable performance and a much larger sweet spot.
