First question: foam flagship or durable grit?
X2 Elongated is still our top Engage score — quad-density foam, reach, ~$234 with PRH. Buy this when you want the current Engage feel and will pay for it.
Axiom Elongated and Axiom Widebody are the Alpha Pro successors: Armor Grit carbon, polymer core + dual foam walls, $179.99 with PRH. Independent swing-weight pages are still thin; the sell is grit life and price, not a secret X2.
X2 Pro is the heavy, extra-grit elongated (SW ~124). Most people should not start there.
Then pick a shape
Elongated (X2 or Axiom) — reach, drives, two-handers. Default if you play mixed or singles.
Widebody (X2 or Axiom) — doubles hands and a wider face. X2 Widebody still has the twist-weight story we measured; Axiom Widebody is the $180 grit version of that idea.
14mm Axiom exists on both PDPs. Start 16mm unless you already like a thinner, hotter face. 16mm elongated is the Axiom SKU Engage lists with UPA-A.
Price and who should skip Engage
X2: list $259.99 → ~$234 with PRH. Axiom: $199.99 → $179.99 with PRH. If even $180 is high, Friday Aura or Enhance Turbo first.
Honolulu Crystal Blue still leads our endurance-grit ladder if texture life is the only variable and you want our #1 score. Axiom is the Engage-shaped version of that conversation at a lower ticket.
