Best 14mm Pickleball Paddles (2026): Elongated, Hybrid and Widebody
Last updated: October 2026
Thinner cores for more pop and faster hands, ranked by shape, with the price after each code.
The best 14mm elongated is the Phantom Trinity 14mm at $127.99 with code PRH (20% off $159.99): easy pop, a raw T700 face and a softer game than we expected from a thin core.
The best 14mm hybrid is the Volair SHIFT Hybrid and the best 14mm widebody is the Volair SHIFT Widebody, both $171 with code PRH and both USAP and UPA-A approved. The SHIFT Widebody is the easiest 14mm we test: 106 swing weight and 7.2 twist weight. Under $110, the Cyclotron Alea 001 hybrid is $107.40 with PRH. If you are not sure you want a thin core, buy 16mm: 14mm paddles pop more and give you less help on resets.

What 14mm changes
A 14mm core is about 2mm thinner than the standard 16mm. In our testing that shows up the same way across brands: more pop off the face, a quicker, crisper feel, and less dwell on soft shots, so dinks and resets need a lighter touch. It is the right call for players who already control the ball well and want more speed on counters and put-aways. If resets are the weak part of your game, a 16mm paddle helps more. Our 14mm vs 16mm guide goes through the trade in detail.
Best 14mm elongated
Elongated is the shape that sells most, and the Phantom Trinity 14mm is our pick. It gives crisp pop and easy depth on drives, the raw T700 face grips for rolls and shaped serves, and the kitchen game was easier than we expected from a 14mm. It is $127.99 with code PRH and USAP approved. Phantom does not publish swing or twist weight, which is the one gap.
If you want listed weights and both approvals, the Volair SHIFT Elongated is $171 with PRH: 119 swing weight, the most reach and pop in the SHIFT line, and a 5.6" handle for two-handed backhands. It has the lowest twist weight of the three SHIFTs (6.3), so it is a specialist, not a first foam paddle. The Diadem Edge Flex Pro 14mm ($224.95 with PRH) is the quickest Edge Flex at 114 to 116 swing weight, with a 5.9 to 6.0 twist weight that drops off on mishits.
Best 14mm hybrid
The Volair SHIFT Hybrid is the 14mm to buy if you want one paddle for doubles and singles: strong pop and spin, a 6.8 twist weight, a 5.6" handle, and USAP and UPA-A approval, at $171 with code PRH.
- Cyclotron Alea 001: $107.40 with PRH (20% off $134.25). Light and maneuverable with a softer feel and good all-court balance. 113 swing weight, 6.6 twist weight, USAP. The best 14mm under $110 we test.
- Ronbus Refoam R4: $179 with RCPRH. Tied with the SHIFT Widebody for the quickest 14mm swing we list (106), built for hands battles. The 5.3" handle is short for two hands. USAP.
- Six Zero Boulder Opal UPAA 14mm: $198 with PRH10. Foam dwell in a 14mm hybrid, SharkSkin face that is Tier 3 for spin durability in independent lab testing. UPA-A only.
Best 14mm widebody
The Volair SHIFT Widebody is the most forgiving 14mm we test and our pick for doubles players who want a thin core. Its 7.2 twist weight keeps off-center blocks steady, the 106 swing weight makes it quick at the kitchen, and it still has real put-away pop. $171 with code PRH, USAP and UPA-A.
For more power, the RPM Friction Pro Widebody V2 14mm ($212.49 with PRH, USAP and UPA-A) has more pop than its 16mm version, a 108 swing weight and about 2,293 RPM measured. The RPM Jade Widebody 14mm ($229.49 with PRH) adds SICmatrix grit and is light at about 7.7 oz, with an average 6.5 twist weight. Both RPM paddles cost the same as their 16mm versions, so the thinner core is a feel choice, not a discount.
Should you buy 14mm or 16mm?
- Buy 14mm if you already reset well, play a fast hands game, and want more pop on counters and put-aways.
- Buy 16mm if you are newer, rely on dinks and resets, or want the most forgiving paddle. See our best widebody and best hybrid guides.
- Order carefully: RPM, Diadem and Volair sell the same shape in both thicknesses at the same price. Check the thickness in the cart.
