Swing weight is the real difference
The Cannon XPP M1 is a heavy power elongated. A swing weight around 123 puts plow behind drives, serves and overheads, and it is slow when the point speeds up at the kitchen. Its XPOP core rebounds hard, and Luzz itself says dinks, blocks and resets need a softer touch.
The J6M+ sits at 111 to 116 by Honolulu's numbers, the same range as the J6CR Crystal Blue, so it should move faster in hands battles. Honolulu built its fully floated MPP core for a softer bottom end on dinks and resets with power on tap when you attack. Twist weight is close: 6.2 to 6.7 published for the J6M+, about 6.3 for the Cannon.
Grit and approval
The Cannon XPP M1's silicon carbide face is spin durability Tier 1 in independent lab testing at 2,400 RPM. The J6M+ shares the Crystal Blue Endurance Surface family with the J2CR, J3CR and J6CR Crystal Blue, which are each Tier 1, but the J6M+ has not been tested, so it has no tier yet.
For USAP events the Cannon XPP M1 is the safe pick today. The J6M+ is UPA-A approved and Honolulu lists USAP certification as pending.
