On-Court Feel
Quanta R4: Stock it feels almost too light — incredibly quick for hands battles (104 SW), but off-center contact feels unpredictable (5.9 TW). The foam gives good dwell without feeling mushy. Peel-ply texture grabs the ball nicely on spin shots. With 6-8g at 3&9 it transforms: twist weight jumps to 7.5+, sweet spot expands, drives gain plow-through. Becomes a legitimate power paddle.
Refoam R4: Plays incredibly fast (106 SW). Drives have good snap, but the real magic happens in fire-fights at the net. The low swing weight lets you flick speed-ups with very little wrist fatigue. The 14mm core means the soft game asks for more focus — catch a dink off the edges and the paddle torques slightly more than a 16mm would.
The Weighting Question (Critical for Quanta R4)
Quanta R4 stock: 104 SW / 5.9 TW — twitchy, small sweet spot. Quanta R4 weighted (6-8g at 3&9): ~110 SW / ~7.5 TW — stable, competitive, powerful. We cannot recommend the Quanta R4 stock. Spend 10 minutes adding lead tape and it becomes one of the best values in foam.
Refoam R4 plays great stock — the 14mm Refoam is naturally stable at 6.2 TW. Weighting helps but is not transformative like on the Quanta.
